Orchids for peace
INNOVATOR supported a group of Ph.D. and young researchers who submitted unique proposals that would contribute to science for peace. The projects are expected to impact some regions affected by the historic armed conflict in the country. The Minciencias Orquideas* call was opened last March to encourage scientist women to move the recent peace agreement on from their specific career fields.

A fresh coffee start-up
Colombia is among the worldwide well-known best coffee producer. Taste, body, and aromatic characteristics are unique due to the high-rich organic matter in the Andean soils and the specific hydroclimate conditions across the country. INNOVATOR is supporting a start-up that will distribute organic coffee. «We have designed an original brand, have built our business structure, and are now creating the marketing strategies», pointed Miguel Lopera, a partner investor and awarded barista.
Postdoctoral trainings by missions
INNOVATOR’s scientists formulated strong proposals to the «Postdoctoral training by Missions» call, opened in February by Minciencias. If awarded, researchers from different Colombian regions will lead original projects, from basic to applied research in disciplines including materials engineering, water resources, social sciences, plant pathology, dairy industry, and hydrology.
